Where the Rain Chose to Stay

Sometimes the smallest detail in a frame becomes the entire story. That single drop of water rests on the petal's surface, held there by surface tension alone, refusing to slide off despite gravity's best effort. Water forms a bead like this because of its own molecular attraction to itself, called cohesion, which pulls each droplet into the roundest, most efficient shape possible. Most petals are naturally water repellent, coated in a microscopic waxy layer that keeps moisture from soaking in and damaging the delicate tissue underneath. That is exactly why the drop sits so perfectly on the surface rather than spreading out or absorbing into it. One tiny bead of water, caught in a moment before it either evaporates or finally lets go.
